Speciality Doctor in Sexual Health

To provide clinical services in sexual health, contraception and reproductive healthcare for patients with reference to national guidelines and within limits defined in locally agreed operating procedures

To be prepared to provide emergency contraception and counselling and referral of clients requesting abortion.

To provide non-judgemental counselling on all sexual health issues and to refer appropriately any service user. To provide counselling on all the available options to women presenting with an unintended/unwanted pregnancy. To work within the legal processes for abortion , in conjunction with the nurse-led early medical abortion service

To participate in service quality governance, audit and medical meetings across the county wide Sexual Health Service, as well as undertake departmental audit, as appropriate.

To be approachable, non-judgemental and responsive to client needs, irrespective of their age, gender, race, religion or sexuality. Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times

To have a keen interest and to be responsible for keeping up to date

To provide in-clinic teaching, training and supervision of junior doctors, medical students, physician associate students, foundation year pharmacists and nursing students who come to observe in the department, once a sufficient level of experience is reached.

Comply with the GMC Duties of a Doctor at all times
