We have an opportunity for a Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist who has a keen interest in specialising in working with children with complex needs. It is open to experienced Band 5's or existing Band 6's.

The post involves supporting children in a variety of locations including homes, clinics, schools, and community venues, across Nottinghamshire.

We are a large department relative to other departments across the country. This means that there are frequent opportunities to develop skills, and we have therapists who are able to specialise in clinical areas and share their knowledge/support less experienced therapists.

We offer excellent support networks, regular supervision, and access to internal training.

Based in our complex needs team, you will have recent experience of providing speech and language support in different settings, for children presenting with a range of SLCN needs. You will have a keen interest in and some experience of working with children with complex needs.

Manage and prioritise own and team caseload, including triaging incoming referrals.

Carry out assessments and provide appropriate packages of care for children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).

Provide training for other professionals in the area of SLCN.

Provide support and advice for less experienced therapists/assistants.

Work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teams.

Previous dysphagia experience is preferable but not essential, as training can be offered.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
