  • Lead the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the Community Children's Nursing (CCN) Team.
  • Deliver training, mentoring and care planning for staff nurses, nursery nurses, support workers and school staff using competency-based training packages.
  • Develop and maintain individualised care plans for pupils.
  • Work closely with safeguarding and children-in-care teams, contributing to reports and attending relevant meetings.

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • NMC Registered Children's, SCPHN or Learning Disability Nursing qualification

Desirable

  • Community degree
  • Teaching Qualification

Continuous Professional Development

  • Experience of continuous professional development

Desirable

  • Evidence of relevant post registration training/qualifications

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in working with children and young people who have complex health needs and an associated learning disability
  • Safeguarding knowledge and experience

Desirable

  • Community Paediatric Nursing experience
  • Experience of working within a special school

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Paediatric clinical skills, e.g. management of gastrostomies
  • High standard of clinical work
  • Able to manage own caseload
  • Effective time management skills and able to prioritise workload
  • Able to manage junior staff and students
  • Good understanding of IT skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to assist and motivate others
  • Good record keeping (in line with professional guidance).
  • Excellent verbal communication skills incorporating communication with children\young people and their carers.
  • Approachable, confident, empathetic, trustworthy, passionate about delivery of high quality nursing care.
