A very exciting opportunity has arisen for aspecialist physiotherapist to work within the Orthopaedic therapy team at Airedale General Hospital. The p...

To undertake a supporting role to the Team Leader; managing, planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the therapy services provided to trauma and elective Orthopaedic patients on the acute wards.

To provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to facilitate safe and timely hospital discharges.

To act as a source of expertise and provide an advisory service to other AGH therapists and members of the MDT in the management of Orthopaedics patients.

To lead in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have complex and chronic presentations, and determine clinical diagnosis and any therapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

To provide expert training and education for all grades of staff and other health professionals in the therapeutic management of orthopaedic patients.

To deputise for the Team Leader when requested.

Provide effective student training and development.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent pre-registration award in Physiotherapy
  • State registrations with the Health Care Professions Council
  • Completion of course in Professional Practice education

Desirable

  • Leadership courses
  • Member of relevant Professional special interest groups/organisations

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant and recent experience working at band 5 level including 12 months in acute ward work.
  • Experience of guideline development or audit.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working and working collaboratively with other professions and agencies including statutory, private and voluntary sector services
  • Experience of clinical supervision both as supervisee and supervisor
  • Recent experience of student training.
  • Experience in Orthopaedic assessments and treatments.

Desirable

  • Experience at Band 6 level

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to support advanced clinical practice in Orthopaedics
  • Knowledge of the roles of other professionals and the principles of partnership working
  • Knowledge of clinical standards and ability to implement and audit these in the team
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance
  • Knowledge to promote and support equality and value diversity
  • Knowledge of the NHS constitution

Desirable

  • Knowledge of relevant national and local legislation relevant to Orthopaedics
  • Specialist knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to support expert clinical practice in Orthopaedics

  • Current UK driving license

  • Access to own transport
