An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Respiratory Inreach team at University hospitals Plymouth. This full time post is at band 6. The succes...

  • Provide specialist patient focused advice and support to inpatients within case load.
  • Support, ward staff and medical teams to identify and facilitate enhanced / supported discharge planning throughout the Trust.
  • The post holder will have involvement in co-ordination and organisation of individual treatment programmes throughout the illness trajectory and work to develop communication across divisional and organisational boundaries.
  • Provide Clinical supervision to other staff.
  • Provide specialist advice, psychological support and education to patients, carers and health care professionals with regards to Respiratory care.
  • Support the education and training of medical, nursing and allied health professionals as required.
  • Carries out specialist respiratory recommendations and management plans.
  • Works autonomously throughout the Trust supporting the Line manager in the development of the Inreach service according to need.
  • Support audit and research projects and aid the development of policies and procedures as required.
  • Contribute to resource management using and allocating resources and equipment responsibly.
  • May undertake research, clinical audits in own specialist area.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable post registration experience.
  • Demonstrable postgraduate experience working in a clinical area where the post-holder will have had frequent contact with respiratory patients.
  • Demonstrable postgraduate experience in a broad variety of clinical settings.
  • An awareness of current NHS and Health issues
  • Good communication, organisational and time management skills

Desirable

  • Demonstrable Counselling experience or qualification.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC Registration
  • Proven evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • Degree in Nursing/Health studies
  • Non-medical Prescriber
  • COPD and Asthma course or willingness to do.
  • Demonstrable experience

Aptitude & Abilities

Essential

  • Advanced Respiratory skills.
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Demonstrable Experience supervising more junior staff
  • Proven ability to manage own caseload
  • Excellent time management
  • Proven ability to work within a team

Desirable

  • Teaching skills
  • Computer literate
