The post holder will be expected to work as a key member of the Gastroenterology department. The successful applicant will be expected to run an integrated outpatient Gastroenterology service with the existing consultants and the IBD CNS teams.
The post is required to re-capture and maintain 18 week and USC pathway performance targets in Gastroenterology as part of our elective recovery plans, as well as supporting the GI bleed service, elective outpatient endoscopy, and 7-day working at the Trust. The post holder will be actively encouraged to develop teaching and academic links with the University of Surrey.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP
- Competency in the management of GI bleeds with experience on a formal GI bleed Rota
Desirable
- Management Training
- Higher specialty gastroenterology examination
- Teaching/Education Qualification
- Higher Degree eg MD/PhD or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience/expertise in managing inpatients/outpatients with IBD and/or general gastroenterology pathology
- Wide experience of General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology including multidisciplinary team working
- Competence in Diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopy
- Fully competent in procedures including upper GI diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy/flexible sigmoidoscopy/colonosopcy
- Understand the principals of Clinical Governance
Desirable
- Out of program management experience (e.g. Deanery secondment)
- Subspecialty interest in associated medical sub specialty e.g. Nutrition, functional GI disease, IBD, capsule endoscopy or hepatology
- Experience of research
