Job description

Make a Real Difference. Join Us as a Children’s Social Worker.

Are you a passionate Social Worker who has completed the ASYE and wants to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children, young people and families?

We’re recruiting across our Children’s Social Care teams in the East Riding – and this could be your next great move.

We’re proud to be a ‘Good’ Local Authority, committed to giving Social Workers the support, tools and environment they need to thrive. Our practice is strengths‑based, child‑centred and grounded in strong professional values. We want to be the destination of choice for practitioners seeking a fulfilling, purpose‑driven career.

Social Workers at East Riding benefit from reimbursement of Social Work England fees, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, staff discounts, health and wellbeing initiatives, car lease and salary sacrifice schemes, mileage cost contributions, and excellent training opportunities within a learning-focused organisation that actively supports career progression.

As a Social Worker with us, you’ll champion the voice of the child and work relationally with families and partners to create lasting, positive change. You’ll play a key part in shaping excellent practice and ensuring children’s experiences are at the heart of every decision.

  • Make confident, timely decisions grounded in statutory responsibilities
  • Lead on Child in Need, Child Protection and Court work
  • Build strong, compassionate relationships with children and families
  • Communicate clearly, openly and respectfully
  • Co‑create effective support plans that meet children’s needs
  • Work collaboratively with partners to gain a full picture of each child’s circumstances
  • Advocate for children’s voices, rights and lived experiences
  • Engage in reflective supervision and take ownership of your practice
  • Support and mentor less experienced colleagues, modelling best practice

  • A supportive, forward‑thinking environment where learning and wellbeing matter.
  • A strong team culture built on collaboration and innovation
  • Practice underpinned by our Stronger Together model, based on Signs of Safety.
  • Reimbursement of Social Work England Fees.
  • Competitive pay, generous leave, excellent pension and employee benefits.

  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Completed the ASYE and have at least 1 year post‑qualifying experience
  • Skilled at forming meaningful relationships with children and families
  • Organised, reflective and confident in prioritising your workload
  • Creative in championing the voices of children
  • Dedicated to high standards, ethics and resilient practice

This advert will be used to recruit Children’s Social Worker and Peripatetic Social Worker vacancies across all locations (Beverley, Goole, Bridlington, Anlaby) in our Children's Social Care teams. In your application personal statement, please state your preferred work base location/s and preference for hours if applicable.

Applications will be reviewed on-flow and interviews arranged as and when there are vacancies to fill. Applicant preferences for workbase location/s and hours will be allocated based on interview scores for fairness and consistency.
