Snr Deputy CMO and Dir of Clinical Commissioning

You will provide executive leadership for clinical commissioning, strategic planning and service transformation programmes, ensuring commissioning decisions are informed by robust clinical evidence, population health intelligence and quality improvement methodologies. They will lead major programmes across acute care, urgent and emergency care, elective recovery, diagnostics and pathway redesign, driving improvements in quality, access, productivity and patient outcomes.

Working closely with executive colleagues and system partners, the successful candidate will support the development of long-term clinical strategy, commissioning intentions and sustainable models of care. They will provide leadership to senior clinical teams, support the development of future clinical leaders and foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and collaboration.

The role includes building strong relationships across providers and partner organisations, providing assurance on performance and outcomes, and influencing strategic decisions that support both improved patient care and the effective use of public resources.

Qualifications

Essential: - Registered Medical Practitioner holding full registration and licence to practise with the General Medical Council.

Desirable: - Postgraduate qualification in healthcare leadership, public health, commissioning or management

Experience

Essential: - Experience of operating as a Deputy Chief Medical Officer within an NHS commissioning organisation

Desirable: - Experience of working at regional or national NHS level.

Knowledge

Essential: - In-depth understanding of the NHS and Integrated Care Systems.
