- To provide professional nursing leadership
- To provide focus and vision for the nursing activity within the ward and to assist the unit manager with leading the nursing team within areas of education, research, quality and clinical practice development
- To ensure the safety of the unit through audits and essential safety checks
- Coordinate the unit to run smoothly across a 7 day service
- Taking referrals from the multi - disciplinary team
- Manage staff and skill mix appropriately when completing rosters
We employ more than 6,500 staffwho deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals,Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, healthcentres and in patients' homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.
We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children's and young people's services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.
We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
Essential
- Registered Nurse Qualification
- Mentoring Certificate / Qualification
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
- Other post graduate qualification relevant to post
- Leadership development programme
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
Essential
- Recent experience of working within Respiratory Medicine
- Awareness of Must Do's
- To demonstrate comprehensive current acute medicine knowledge, skills and experience.
- Up to date professional knowledge
- Knowledge of respiratory medicine
Desirable
- Recent experience in undertaking staff appraisals
- Knowledge of non-invasive ventilation
- Understand national initiatives regarding respiratory
COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS (INCLUDING MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES):
Essential
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrates professional leadership skills
- Ability to delegate, organise and prioritise care delivery
- Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
