In conjunction with the General Manager, SDU Lead and Matron, the post-holder will work across organisational boundaries to ensure appropriate services are in place and to deliver national and local strategic and operational objectives and standards.
As one of two Service Managers within the Dermatology, Plastic Surgery & Burns Services, the post-holder will work closely with their counterpart and the General Manager to ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day operational management of designated service areas. The role is responsible for supporting delivery of key quality, performance and financial targets, driving service improvement initiatives and line managing relevant staff within the specialty services.
The post-holder will be a key member of the specialty management team, contributing to the development and implementation of service plans and supporting the successful delivery of agreed objectives across Dermatology, Plastic Surgery and Burns.
The role is responsible for providing timely, efficient and effective operational management support, ensuring services remain responsive and are delivered to the highest possible clinical, quality and performance standards.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential: - Education and training to degree level or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
Essential: - Recognised leadership and/or management qualification or equivalent
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Contributing to improvements in service standards and patient experience
- Monitoring compliance with local and national performance and quality targets
- In depth knowledge of elective admissions including theatre scheduling of managing booked admissions.
- Experience of managing a large team cross site for both admin and support staff
- Knowledge and experience of validation processes
- Suggesting innovative and lasting solutions to problems and difficulties
- Up-to-date knowledge of defined service areas, including current issues in service delivery, patient pathways
- Effective verbal and written communication to facilitate effective working with clinical staff, patients and carers, and work colleagues
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex and varied information in order to identify issues and solutions to
- Ability to write management reports and on key performance and service issues
- Understanding of the importance of good Human Resources practice
- Ability to demonstrate behaviours and attitudes consistent with Trust values and service standards
- Ability to motivate staff to deliver the best for patients
Desirable: - Experience of budget and resource management; - Experience of working with patients and the public to develop and improve services
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
Essential: - Willing and able to travel between sites and elsewhere, as required by the post
