About the roleLeading outreach, building partnerships, changing lives.Are you passionate about tackling homelessness and making a lasting difference to people's livesAs a Senior Street Outreach Worker, you will play a key role in leading and coordinating outreach activity across North Northamptonshire, ensuring people sleeping rough receive timely, effective and person-centred support.Working within the Single Homelessness Service, you will build strong partnerships with housing, health, social care and voluntary sector organisations to help prevent and relieve homelessness. Supporting the Rough Sleeping Services Team Leader, you will help drive initiatives that make rough sleeping rare, brief and non-recurring, while providing practical support and guidance to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.This is a rewarding opportunity to lead by example, coordinate impactful outreach services and help create positive outcomes for individuals at risk of homelessness across North Northamptonshire.What will you be doing?As a Senior Street Outreach Worker, you will lead and coordinate outreach services across North Northamptonshire, supporting people experiencing rough sleeping to access accommodation, specialist support and opportunities to improve their lives. Working closely with partners and outreach staff, you will help drive a proactive and effective service that prevents and reduces homelessness.Leading, supporting and supervising Street Outreach Workers to deliver a high-quality outreach service.Coordinating outreach activities to identify and engage people sleeping rough and ensure timely interventions.Providing guidance and support on complex cases, crisis situations and safeguarding concerns.Working with partners across housing, health, social care and voluntary services to deliver coordinated support.Leading on complex case management and representing the service at multi-agency meetings.Supporting individuals to access accommodation, healthcare, substance misuse services, welfare support and other essential services.Helping former rough sleepers sustain accommodation and reduce the risk of repeat homelessness.Monitoring service performance, maintaining accurate records and supporting budget management.Assisting with the development and improvement of services, partnerships and local support networks.Supporting the delivery of rough sleeper counts, Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) responses and other homelessness initiatives.Deputising for the Rough Sleeping Services Team Leader when required and supporting the day-to-day operation of the service.About youHold a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade A-C and a relevant housing qualification (CIH Level 4 Diploma or equivalent) or show an equivalent capability.Demonstratable experience at a senior officer level (or similar) within a local authority, housing association or voluntary organisationExperience of working with people who have experience of rough sleepingExperience of delivering street outreach services Experience of managing a caseload and producing risk assessments, needs assessments and support plansExperience of handling complex cases and providing solutions for vulnerable individuals.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to form and develop professional and effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and service users and work effectively and enthusiastically as part of a teamAbility to coordinate and lead on multi-agency responses to complex cases to achieve a positive outcomeExcellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate Good analytical skills and ability to produce and interpret statistical informationExcellent listening and interviewing skills, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate people to improve themselves and/or othersA skilled problem-solver and negotiator with the ability to develop practical and creative housing solutions with an organised and imaginative approach to work and the ability to manage difficult and sensitive situationsEffectively work with others to achieve a positive outcome by being proactive and solution focusedFull driving licence and access to own transport for work purposesWilling to work outside normal office hours on a regular basis to undertake street outreach sessionsThis post will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service checkOur BenefitsHere at North Northamptonshire Council, we’re transforming for the better, using all our creativity and imagination to create the best life for our local people.You’ll find that we have a wide range of careers that may be more surprising than you think!Why choose us?We offer a vibrant working environment with:a competitive salarya pension scheme, where we pay a significant contribution on top of your contribution.
