An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Nurse to join the expanding nursing team on Nightingale/Woodpecker Wards. Woodpecker Ward...
Woodpecker and Nightingale Wards are a place to develop or consolidate a variety of nursing skills including: time management on fast paced, high turnover clinical environment; close working relationship with our Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the pre-assessment of upcoming admissions; engagement with a wide range of clinical specialities; exposure to bed management through surgical bed meetings and forward planning for following week admissions; working in a clinical environment containing a broad range of ward-based healthcare professionals, including Healthcare Support Workers, Healthcare Assistants, Assistant Theatre Practitioners, Nursing Associates and Registered Nurses.
We have a growing educational programme which will help assist you to contribute towards the high standards of nursing care we set across both wards by assisting in your own professional development. This development will be integral to maintaining such standards and by gaining experience within your role you will also be provided with in-depth training to give you the tools and confidence to develop within the role.

- NMC Registered Nurse (Child) or NMC Registered Nurse / HCPC registered ODP with extensive paediatric experience
- Evidence of ongoing professional development relating to clinical speciality
- Assessing & Mentoring qualification
- APLS/PILS (High Dependency/ITU areas only / Recovery)
- Basic life support
Desirable
- Relevant honours degree or in the process of obtaining**
- NVQ D32/33 Assessors course
Experience/Knowledge

- Demonstrable knowledge and experience within relevant clinical speciality
- Teaching, supervision and managerial experience
- Experience of coordinating and managing patient care
- Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing.
- Understanding of resource management, health and safety, clinical risk and quality issues
- Handling safeguarding issues according to Trust policies and procedures
- Understating or evidence of fulfilling PREP requirements for Revalidation
