The postholder will provide strategic OD leadership for a portfolio of culture, leadership and transformation programmes aligned to Trust priorities, with an initial focus on supporting the integration of services transferring from St Andrew's Healthcare.

They will work with senior leaders and stakeholders to design, deliver and evaluate OD interventions that support cultural integration, staff engagement, leadership development, workforce transformation and service improvement.

Acting as a trusted senior advisor, the postholder will use organisational insight, staff feedback and evidence-based practice to influence decision-making, facilitate complex discussions and support leaders to deliver change in a way that balances staff experience with operational outcomes.

The Senior OD Lead will oversee programme governance, risks, benefits and impact measures, providing assurance on delivery while contributing to wider Trust and Group priorities such as values and behaviours, leadership development and culture change.

The postholder will provide leadership and professional oversight to OD and leadership practitioners, supporting their development and creating a positive, inclusive and psychologically safe environment that enables individuals and teams to thrive.

The postholder will translate strategic priorities into practical OD plans for the service integration programme and wider transformation portfolio, ensuring activity is clearly scoped, coordinated and aligned with operational, clinical and corporate workstreams.

They will develop and deliver interventions that support team development, leadership capability, engagement, cultural alignment and change readiness, drawing on staff voice, workforce data, organisational diagnostics and recognised OD practice.

The role will require confident facilitation of complex and sensitive discussions with leaders and teams, helping to surface issues, build shared understanding and agree practical actions that support safe, inclusive and effective services.

The postholder will establish clear governance, evaluation and reporting arrangements for OD activity, including monitoring risks, tracking benefits, measuring impact and providing assurance to programme and organisational governance forums.

They will provide professional leadership to OD and leadership practitioners, supporting high-quality delivery, reflective practice, continuous improvement and a team culture that is inclusive, accountable and psychologically safe.

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Educated to Masters level (Level 7) or equivalent experience in organisational development, HR or related field
  • Chartered CIPD member or equivalent professional experience
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of organisational development, culture change and leadership development
  • Significant experience of leading complex, organisation-wide OD or transformation programmes
  • Experience of working with senior leaders and Executive teams in a large, complex organisation

Desirable

  • Experience within the NHS or public sector
  • Experience supporting large-scale service expansion or integration programmes
  • Coaching qualification or equivalent

  • Strong planning and organisational skills, including long-term strategic planning

Desirable

  • Experience of using organisational diagnostics, engagement tools, or workforce analytics
