Senior Mental Health Nurse

• Deliver high-quality, recovery-focused mental health care in line with NSFT values, Trust policies and the NMC Code.
• Undertake assessments under appropriate supervision, contribute to care planning, deliver interventions and evaluate outcomes for service users.
• Monitor mental and physical health needs, including medication management, escalating concerns where appropriate.
• Develop and manage a caseload under supervision, working collaboratively with service users, carers and partner agencies.
• Undertake risk assessments and contribute to risk management and safeguarding processes.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to effective multidisciplinary team working.
• Participate in supervision, appraisal, mandatory training and continuous professional development activities.
• Contribute to quality improvement, audit and service development initiatives.

Essential

• Nursing degree or equivalent - Mental Health
• Practice Assessor and Practice Assessor training (NMC registrants) or Practice Educator (AHP & Social Worker Registrants)
• Ongoing professional development working towards degree level (if professional registration is following a diploma level course)

Desirable

• Recognised Leadership / Management training
• Higher degree or post graduate certificate in area of clinical / therapeutic practice

Essential

• Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience
• Demonstrate effective risk assessment and risk management experience
• Experience in the delivery of clinical interventions

• Excellent communication and engagement skills
• Conflict resolution and Breakaway training (or requirement to undertake within first 12 weeks)
• Effective analytical and decision-making skills
