To work as part of an established Emergency Department team to provide holistic care to both patients and their families. The post will provide clinical and administrative support to the clinical team under supervision of the Emergency nurses to assist in delivering high standards of care utilising your extending skills alongside nursing experience within a care setting.
- Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting others by demonstrating good practice including utilising mechanisms to develop and implement new ways of working including using information technology where appropriate
- Participate in audit and assist team activities that create opportunities to improve patient care
- Adhere to the organisations policy for handling, recording and safe keeping of the Trust and patient's property
- Liaising with patients, carers, colleagues and other professionals in ensuring that integrated quality care is provided. This will include assisting patients to learn new skills that promote independence
- To empower patients and adopt a problem solving approach by encouraging and giving clients the confidence and skills to become independent

Experience
Essential
- At least 2 years recent acute hospital experience
- Able to demonstrate good team working
- Good interpersonal skills with all levels of staff and patients
- Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with patients / families / carers / team members
- Ability to understand work related boundaries and refer matters of importance to a senior colleague
- Ability to follow detailed instruction
- Ability to document efficiently and effectively
- Have a flexible approach to meet the changing needs of the service
- To be a caring , trustworthy, enthusiastic and motivated individual with a willingness to learn and develop the role
Skills
Essential
- Competent in the use of manual blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and weight and able to record and interpret the measurements.
- Venepuncture/ cannulation
- ECG
- Venous Blood gases
- Bladder scan
- Competently support qualified staff in managing flow of patients through their designated area.
- Competently support qualified staff in managing safe effective care by timely treatment's and care provision.
- Must embed kindness in all practice
- Liase with specialities, allied health care professionals confidently in the best interests of the patients care and treatment

- NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Health Care
