Job description
This role does NOT offer sponsorship. A Senior Care Assistant is a compassionate and skilled professional who supports residents with various daily activities, such as personal care, social interaction and personal interests.
The Senior Care Assistant also ensures the safety and health of residents by completing documentation, administering medication, reviewing care plans and communicating with external professionals and families.
The Senior Care Assistant contributes to the positive reputation of the Care Home as a provider of high-quality care and service.
Education
Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalentKnowledge - An understanding of the challenge of and sensitivity needed to care and support vulnerable people An understanding of relevant current legislation, policies and regulations Skills & Abilities
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with colleagues, medical professionals and a wide range of stakeholders
Ability to
Work with people with limited communication and understand their needs Follow plans, routines and instructions and be flexible Use initiative appropriately and work independently with little direct supervision Prioritise and effectively manage workload Work well under pressure Empathise and build supportive and trusting relationships
Personal Attributes
Positive, caring and flexible ‘can do’ attitude Enjoy engaging with people of all ages including those living with dementia and/or other disabilities Strong teamwork ethic Education
Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or other formal care qualification e.g. Nursing Diploma, Access to Nursing Certificate or training in First Aid
Experience Required
Providing person centred care to elderly residents in a care home setting 2 years+ experience of working in a similar care environment Supervising junior employees, including delegating work, giving feedback, carrying out supervision and on the job training Working with people who have dementia
Skills & Abilities
Digital skills - In particular recording information on care plans, using medication system and e-learning systems.
