Senior Clinical Shoulder Fellow in Orthopaedics

The post will concentrate on elective Shoulder surgery. The post will allow the surgeon to develop a specialist interest in Shoulder surgery and applicants should have either completed or be about to complete their training in this area. The unit is involved in clinical research into joint replacement and the Fellow will be involved in this. There is no out of hours on call commitment.

There is a planned move for this service anticipated during Winter 2025when this role and base of work will relocate to Poole Hospital. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder's home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.

As part of our commitment to delivering high-quality care across seven days, this post may involve participation in an out-of-hours rota, including evenings, weekends, and/or bank holidays, in accordance with service needs. Any work undertaken outside standard hours/PA's will attract remuneration in line with the respective NHS Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions of Service.

Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude

Desirable: - Audit - Evidence of participation or enthusiasm.; - Some experience of medical writing.; - Contribution to management of professional organisation.

Experience

Essential: - Greater than two years orthopaedic registrar level experience including at least 6 months of shoulder surgery; - Minimum 4 months of NHS experience.

Desirable: - Evidence of involvement in audit & research projects.; - Evidence of participation or enthusiasm of audit.

Interpersonal Skills

Essential: - Potential to function successfully under stress and to undertake responsibility.; - Ability to act on own initiative appropriately.

Qualifications and Training

Desirable: - Additional Postgraduate qualification.
