The role of the School Nurse (SCPHN) is to work within the 0-16 Children and Families Team to lead on the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme to children, young people and families across Southampton. The post holder will lead within a Locality and lead on the High Impact Areas. They will assess health needs, provide evidence-based interventions, promote health and wellbeing, safeguard children and young people, and work collaboratively with partner agencies to improve outcomes.

To offer support, guidance and the promotion of the School Nursing / Health Visiting service and provide line management to colleagues.To work with Clinical Team Co-ordinators and the wider team to contribute to the achievement of Trust targets.

The School Nursing team works with children and young people that attend an educational setting in Southampton or live in the city of Southampton, and care is delivered across a variety of settings including schools, community settings and family homes. We work closely with other services and professionals to safeguard and ensure the best outcomes for children and their families.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc/ MSc in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) in School Nursing
  • RN - Child / Adult/ Learning Disability/ Mental Health
  • To hold an up-to-date NMC registration
