• Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
• Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
• Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate
• Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols and relevant guidance such as NICE
• Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
• Check, read and interpret pathological results for patients
• Ensure appropriate follow up of patients
• Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards
• Ensure that practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately with information relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy and for practice recording requirements under QOF and enhanced services.
• Appropriate use of clinical coding.
• Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
• Prescribe appropriately and in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance, and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance)
• Work with and provide support to other members of the primary health care team.

• Ability to assess and manage undifferentiated presentations across a broad range of clinical conditions.
• Ability to work autonomously whilst recognising the limits of own competence and when to seek advice or refer.
• Demonstrable ability to prioritise and manage a varied GP workload safely and effectively.
• Demonstrable ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with patients, carers, and colleagues.
• Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and appropriate clinical records.
• Understanding of safe prescribing and medicines management.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities relating to children and adults at risk.
• Understanding of confidentiality, consent, and information governance requirements.
• Commitment to providing continuity of care and contributing to the ongoing management of patients with long-term conditions.

• GMC registration with a current licence to practise.
• Holds CCT in General Practice or equivalent recognised qualification.
• MRCGP or equivalent.
• Eligible for inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List.

• Able and willing to undertake home visits as required by the practice.
• Able to travel independently to undertake home visits, where required.

• Full UK driving licence and access to suitable transport for undertaking home visits.
