Manage a caseload and deal
with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the
highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. As a
senior member of the team you will be expected to set an example to others,
assist in education and training and to play a full role in target achievement
and service development.
In accordance with the
clinical rota, as agreed, the GP will make him/her-self available to undertake
a variety of duties including
Surgery consultations, telephone consultations,
visiting patients at home, checking and signing
repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and
correspondence in a timely fashion.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation
to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other clinicians within the organisation
Participate in the Duty Dr rota to provide a first
port of call for all on the day urgent queries or requests for late
visits
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early
signs of illness
Cover all the clinical management of the patients in
surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing
results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as
appropriate
Developing care and treatment plans in consultation
with patients and in line with current Practice disease management
protocols as well wider guidance such as that from NICE
Ensuring appropriate follow up of patients
Recording clear and contemporaneous computerised
consultation notes to agreed standards
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and
repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever
possible)
Prescribing generically whenever appropriately and in
accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good
Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance)
Working with and support other members of the primary
health care team in delivering high quality primary care
Promoting the application of standards and codes of
Practice set by the Royal College of General Practice, General Medical
Council, NHS England and local NHS trust
Take an active role in the practice achieving agreed
QOF and other key performance indicator targets.
Responsibility for targets and services allocated,
such as a QOF area of Enhanced Service.
Take an active role in delivering clinical and
organisational governance.
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice
policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection,
health and safety
Commitment and contribution to achievement of the
highest possible quality standards such as the CQC, QOF and other agreed
A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure
evidence-based best practice
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard
setting within the organisation
Attendance at regular in-house governance and
educational meetings and training as well as events at other agencies as
appropriate
Assistance with the training of other staff members
and also with the education of doctors and nurses in training as
appropriate

As a Salaried GP you will have
access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers,
Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to
information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is

carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the
Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the
Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the
protection of personal and sensitive data.

Our Partners are a supportive and sociable team, meeting regular for a coffee
and working collaboratively to drive continual improvement for our patients,
staff and the practice as a whole.
The practice is
a long established and successful Dispensing Practice in rural Eccleshall
housed within a unique listed building dating back to the 16th
century. Eccleshall is a highly sought
after village in rural Staffordshire surrounded by very good schools and
excellent road networks.

Experience
Essential
- GP Primary Care Experience
- Good understanding of QOF
- Experience of Microsoft Office Applications
- Experience of GP Clinical IT systems
- Good understanding of CQC
Desirable: - EMIS experience; - Docman experience; - AccuRx experience

Qualifications
Essential
- MBBS/MBChB (or equivalent) medical degree recognised in the UK
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent (JCPTGP)
- Membership of recognised defence union (MPS/MDU)
- Currently on a performers list
- Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Never been removed from a performers list for a detrimental reason
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- A demonstrable commitment to professional development
- Understands the importance of evidence-based practice and clinical effectiveness
- Evidence of recent self-directed learning or development
