We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive practice team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the practice through the NHS England Practice-level GP Reimbursement Scheme, supporting increased GP capacity and improved access to general practice, working 4 session per week (Monday and a Wednesday)

The post is initially offered on a fixed-term contract, reflecting the current NHS funding arrangements. The contract is subject to the availability and continuation of the relevant funding and the practice continuing to meet the scheme's eligibility requirements.

There is an expectation that the post may be extended on an annual basis if the GP Reimbursement Scheme and associated funding continue, subject to NHS England/commissioner arrangements and the ongoing needs of the practice.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred care alongside our existing GPs and multidisciplinary team. We are looking for a GP committed to delivering excellent clinical care and who would like to become an integral part of a supportive and forward-thinking practice.

To provide high-quality, safe and effective general medical services to the practice population, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team. The postholder will contribute to the delivery of excellent patient care, clinical governance and continuous improvement within the practice.

This post is initially offered on a fixed-term basis under the NHS England Practice-level GP Reimbursement Scheme. Any extension will be subject to the continuation of the relevant NHS funding, the practice's eligibility for the scheme and the ongoing needs of the practice. Where funding continues, there is an expectation that the contract may be extended annually.

Main Duties and Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients presenting with acute and chronic conditions.

  • Conduct face-to-face, telephone and other appropriate consultations.
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with current guidance.
  • Make appropriate referrals and coordinate care with secondary and community services.
  • Provide preventative healthcare, health promotion and screening where appropriate.
  • Manage patients with long-term conditions in accordance with agreed clinical protocols.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and appropriate clinical records.
  • Work effectively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, healthcare assistants, administrative staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in practice meetings and contribute to the development of practice policies and procedures.
  • Participate in clinical audit, significant event reviews, quality improvement and other clinical governance activities.
  • Support the practice in meeting its contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and competence through continuing professional development.
  • Undertake appropriate safeguarding responsibilities and follow practice safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with professional and legal requirements.
  • Comply with infection prevention and control, health and safety and information governance policies.
  • Contribute positively to the development of services and improving patient experience and access.

Professional ResponsibilitiesThe postholder will maintain registration with the General Medical Council and comply with the GMC's professional standards. They will work within their professional competence and seek advice or support where appropriate.

The postholder is expected to demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and to treat all patients, carers and colleagues with dignity and respect.

Clinical GovernanceThe postholder will participate in the practice's clinical governance arrangements, including significant event reviews, complaints where appropriate, clinical audit, prescribing review and quality improvement initiatives.

The GP will maintain appropriate continuing professional development and participate in appraisal and revalidation requirements.

Confidentiality and Information GovernanceAll information concerning patients, staff and the practice is confidential. The postholder must comply with GDPR, information governance requirements and practice policies regarding the handling and sharing of information.

SafeguardingThe postholder will contribute to safeguarding children and adults at risk and comply with all relevant practice and statutory safeguarding procedures.

Person SpecificationEssential- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List.
  • MRCGP or equivalent.
  • Appropriate experience working in general practice.
  • Ability to manage a broad range of acute and chronic presentations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to clinical governance and continuing professional development.

Desirable- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Experience of quality improvement, clinical audit or service development.
  • Additional clinical skills relevant to general practice.
  • Interest in developing particular areas of clinical expertise.
