All about the Role
As a Social Worker within our Adult Safeguarding Team, you will play a pivotal role in protecting adults with care and support needs from abuse and neglect. Working within a fast-paced team you will be responsible for screening and managing safeguarding concerns, undertaking enquiries where appropriate, and working collaboratively with a wide range of professionals to achieve positive outcomes for adults at risk.
No two days are the same. You will work alongside health colleagues, police, providers, commissioners, housing teams and community services to gather information, assess risk and make informed decisions. The role offers a unique opportunity to develop specialist safeguarding knowledge while supporting adults to achieve outcomes that matter to them.
You will be expected to demonstrate strong analytical skills, professional curiosity and a person-centred approach to safeguarding practice. You'll have opportunities to contribute to multi-agency meetings, organisational safeguarding enquiries, provider concerns, Mental Capacity Act decision-making, and complex risk management arrangements.
All about our Team
Our Adult Safeguarding Team is a supportive, experienced and highly respected service that sits at the heart of Adult Social Care. We are responsible for receiving and triaging safeguarding concerns across Peterborough and work closely with partners to ensure adults at risk receive the right support at the right time.
The team consists of Social Workers, a Senior Social Worker and a Safeguarding Co-ordinator, supported by a Team Manager. We pride ourselves on collaborative working, reflective practice and supporting one another through complex and challenging situations.

Staff receive regular supervision, opportunities for continuing professional development, and access to specialist safeguarding training. We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic Social Worker who is passionate about safeguarding adults and improving outcomes for vulnerable people.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and safeguarding legislation.
- Skilled in assessment, risk analysis and professional decision-making.
- Confident working in a multi-agency environment and building effective professional relationships.
- Able to manage competing demands in a busy and dynamic service.
- Committed to person-centred, strengths-based practice.
