To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to adult inpatients within the Trust
To assess and treat own caseload of patients, who may have complex presentation, and maintains associated records, as an autonomous practitioner
To supervise and teach recently qualified physiotherapists/physiotherapy assistants/students and involvement in teaching MDT staff.
To undertake evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and may participate in departmental research and audit
To assist the Band 7 Physiotherapist by monitoring caseloads, recording statistics and prioritising referrals as required
To liaise effectively with other disciplines
Competence in rehabilitation is required, with time spent in stroke and neurorehabilitation desirable.
We offer frequent supervision; regular development reviews and access to band-relevant support groups to ensure you feel supported and continue to develop professionally. Opportunity will be provided to develop leadership skills within a supportive environment.
Please note: A valid UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes are essential for this role due to community-based visits.

Knowledge
Essential
- Broad range of experience in the similar role
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
- Ability to demonstrate ongoing CPD and the use of evidence-based practice.
- Knowledge and experience of management of elderly patients, including those with falls, dementia and/or delirium
Desirable
- Experience in supervising junior staff members and students
- Work across the Neuro pathway - acute, inpatient rehab or community
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience of safeguarding policies, practices, procedures, and associated
- Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety issues and responsibilities
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree/ Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registration
Desirable
- Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Member of relevant special interest group
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Effective prioritisation and management of workload independently
- Adaptable and flexible, with a strong ability to collaborate effectively within a team
- Proficient in essential IT functions, including the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Desirable
- Teaching and presentation skills
- Demonstrates excellent leadership ability and motivational skills
- Ability to cope in potentially stressful and distressing situations, maintaining clinical judgement under pressure
Personal Characteristics
Essential
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with patients, carers and colleagues
- Able to maintain high standards of confidentiality
- Physically capable of performing required clinical duties in line with the Trust Manual Handling Guidelines
- Holds a full UK driving licence with access to a car for work purposes
Desirable
- Experience of working with EMIS, SystmOne, etc.
- Flexible to meet service demand
- Maintains a professional and presentable appearance
