In liaison with the Women, Children and Specialist Service senior management team; develop, implement, monitor, review and embed strategies and frameworks to underpin the principles of clinical governance in Women's Services, this will include effectively managing clinical risks.
Take the lead in the service to co-ordinate clinical governance activities and clinical risk management.
Provide leadership, guidance and expertise within the multi-professional team for Women's Services for clinical governance and risk management.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Midwife
- Relevant Health Related Degree
- Teaching & assessing qualification
- Management / leadership training
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable
- Master's Degree or working towards
- Management / leadership qualification
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge and experience of dealing with Risk Management, Clinical Governance, Policy & Audit
- Knowledge of the NHS Constitution & 'Understanding the New NHS'
- Knowledge of current local and national midwifery agenda and priorities
- Demonstrate wide knowledge of health policy and application to practice
- In-depth knowledge of midwifery and obstetric practice
- Demonstrable knowledge of PSIRF
Skills
Essential
- Ability to motivate and lead a clinical team
- Prioritisation and delegation skills
- Continuing development of clinical leadership skills
- Decision making, diplomacy, negotiation and conflict resolution
- IT skills including report writing and spreadsheets
Desirable
- Competent in use of SystmOne health records including reporting processes
- Competent in use of electronic incident reporting systems including obtaining data and reports
Experience

- Significant experience in maternity services
- Experience of maternity risk & governance
- Incident investigation
- Change management
