- Manage the day-to-day operational delivery of the Resuscitation Team, including line management, workforce planning and service development.
- Lead the Trust's resuscitation governance framework, providing assurance through audit, performance monitoring, risk management and reporting to senior committees.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate high-quality resuscitation education programmes, including Immediate Life Support (ILS), simulation training and competency assessment.
- Act as the Trust's expert adviser on resuscitation, deteriorating patient care and emergency response, supporting clinical teams across all services.
- Lead the review, development and implementation of resuscitation and deteriorating patient policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.
- Drive continuous quality improvement through audit, research, simulation, innovation and the implementation of evidence-based practice.
- Lead the Trust's cardiac arrest audit programme, emergency equipment assurance and simulation to improve patient outcomes.
- Provide expert advice on the procurement, standardisation and governance of resuscitation equipment across the organisation.
- Build strong multidisciplinary relationships with clinical, operational and executive colleagues
- Represent the Trust locally, regionally and nationally, maintaining awareness of emerging evidence and influencing the future development of resuscitation services.
The post holder leads the Trust-wide resuscitation programme by bringing together patient safety, clinical governance, education, quality improvement and operational delivery. They are responsible for ensuring that resuscitation systems are safe, responsive and continuously improving while supporting clinical teams across mental health, community, learning disability and specialist services.
The role develops and delivers the Trust's resuscitation strategy, translating national guidance into local practice. It provides expert advice to senior leaders, influences policy development, identifies emerging risks and ensures that resuscitation remains embedded within the wider deteriorating patient agenda and organisational quality priorities.
A significant element of the role is providing assurance that the Trust complies with national standards through:
- Leading resuscitation governance
- Supporting PSIRF investigations involving resuscitation or deterioration
- Monitoring organisational risks
- Leading audit programmes
- Identifying learning from incidents
- Driving quality improvement initiatives
- Reporting assurance to Trust committees and executive teams.
The Trust Resuscitation Manager leads the development of a comprehensive education programme that ensures every member of staff receives the appropriate level of resuscitation training for their role. This includes:
- Immediate Life Support (ILS)
- Adult and paediatric resuscitation education
- Simulation training
- Competency assessment
- Development of future instructors
- Maintaining Resuscitation Council (UK) standards across the organisation.
The role acts as a change leader by identifying opportunities to improve systems, introducing innovation and embedding evidence-based practice. This includes reviewing policies, improving emergency response processes, supporting new technologies and strengthening organisational resilience.
The post holder manages the day-to-day operation of the Resuscitation Team, including:

Success depends on building strong partnerships across the organisation, working closely with:

The role uses audit, incident data and research to evaluate performance, identify themes and implement improvements. Regular cardiac arrest audits, emergency equipment assurance and simulated emergency exercises provide evidence that systems remain safe and effective while informing future improvements.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Registered Health Care Professional
- Educated to degree or diploma level - Resuscitation Council Advanced life Support Instructor
- Teaching and training e.g. SLICE/ENB 998 or C&G 7307
Desirable: - Educated to Masters level or willing to work towards
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Post qualification experience inclusive of at least: Band 7 or equivalent as a Nurse Advisor. Teaching or training experience. Direct line manager experience at Band 7 or equivalent
- Experience of working at Band 7 or equivalent within a complex health care organisation
- Experience of developing practice and of research and audit
- Experience of designing and delivering teaching packages
Desirable: - Experience of working within a Mental Health setting
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent ability to communicate information verbally and in writing across all levels of the organisation Excellent knowledge of the principles and current issues surrounding resuscitation.
- Knowledge of health care issues such as Diabetes and Hypertension.
- An understanding of ECG's
- An understanding of cannulation skills
- Knowledge of management supervision and appraisals
- Demonstrable leadership skills
- Good IT, presentation and Powerpoint skills
