Be clinically responsible for a designated caseload of COPD/chronic lung condition and heart failure (HF) patients undergoing rehabilitation, ensuring high standards of care.

Organise workload effectively, and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time, and in accordance with service demand/requirements on a changing basis.

Provide advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, psychological and emotional conditions.

Use advanced assessment techniques, interpretation of diagnostic test results and use advanced clinical reasoning skills, to confirm a patient's diagnosis and formulate an evidence based, goal orientated treatment plan.

Use of relevant and appropriate screening tools.

Review medical therapy, supported by Respiratory ACP, Non-Medical Prescribers (NMPs) and Lead Physiotherapist to ensure safe and effective treatments/management.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of current government, professional and organisational standards/policies in relation to COPD and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
  • Sound knowledge of COPD and other chronic lung pathologies
  • Knowledge of national standards and guidelines for COPD.

Desirable

  • An understanding of heart failure and associated conditions
