- Monitor participants throughout clinical trials
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and records
- Promote participant safety and wellbeing throughout studies
- Work collaboratively with physicians, technicians & the wider multidisciplinary research team
- Screen potential participants, demonstrate knowledge of relevant study protocols
- Conduct study appointments, procedures, including vital signs, blood/urine sampling, ECGs, medical histories and study medication administration, as required
- Complete data entry, safety reporting
- Maintain accurate, legible and detailed records, including up-to-date training records
- Build positive rapport with participants to optimise retention and maintain professionalism
- Ensure nursing activities comply with the NMC Code, company SOPs, ICH-GCP and GDPR
- Work independently while maintaining effective relationships within the research team
- Attend study initiation, investigator and research team meetings as required
- Maintain study databases, electronic systems and paper records
- Support feasibility assessments, implementation of new research studie
- Assist with recruitment planning and monitor progress against study targets
- Coordinate study appointments, investigations, samples and follow-up activities
- Communicate effectively with sponsors, Clinical Research Networks, CROs and other relevant organisations
- Assist with preparation, maintenance of study files, documentation
- Manage competing study requirements, prioritise workload effectively
- The post holder will be an experienced Research Nurse who, acting within their professional boundaries, will deliver high-quality care for patients taking part in Research. The main purpose of the job is to provide support for National Institute for Health Research NIHR portfolio adopted projects and commercial studies adopted by the practice. You will work across a range of studies which include observational research, novel drug therapy and clinical interventions. Under direction of the Research Lead Partner, and working alongside our current Research Team, you will participate in the recruitment and follow up of patients to research studies. The role will involve undertaking study related procedures as appropriate and the assessment, planning and on-going care of research participants throughout the duration of the study.
Clevedon Medical Centre is a small seaside town located a convenient commutable distance from Bristol. The practice has 5 GP Partners and serves approximately 16,500 patients. We employ a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians including GPs, ACPs, Home visiting Paramedic, Chronic disease nurses, Treatment Room nurses, Research Nurse, Pharmacists, HCAs, phlebotomists, who are all supported by an incredible Admin team
Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Nursing
- Current NMC Registration - RGN
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training (or willingness to complete)
Experience
Essential
- Experience of obtaining informed consent
- Experience of working directly with patients participating in Research
- Experience of using patient monitoring equipment
- Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Experience of wound care, observations, venepuncture
Desirable
- Experience of conducting research in primary care
- Experience of using electronic databases and study management systems
- Experience in early-phase clinical trials
