Manage and provide all aspects of patient care.
Admit, assess & escalate any concerns to nurse in charge.
Assessing NEWS score and effectively managing.
Act in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct.
Support other nurses in the ward team as necessary.
Demonstrate practice based on current advances in nursing practice and research.
Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
Comply with responsibility to safeguard children and vulnerable adults, ensuring attendance at appropriate training.
Take personal responsibility for putting the person receiving care first, and to challenge poor care, doing so as soon as any shortcomings are seen.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered nurse (adult) with active registration.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and potentially working towards or holding an MSc in nursing
Desirable: - Experience of CIC IT systems.; - Mentorship qualification.
Knowledge and experience
Essential
- Experience in an acute hospital setting, demonstrating an awareness of current professional nursing issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable: - Familiarity with quality and safety standards and ward audit requirements.; - Understanding of clinical governance issues and clinical risk management.
Skills and aptitudes
Essential: - Ability to plan and organise workload.; - Ability to supervise qualified and unqualified staff; - Ability to prioritise and make decisions.
Desirable: - Proficient in venepuncture and cannulation.; - Leadership skills.
Other requirements

- Ability to work flexibly to provide 24 hour cover.
- Be a positive role model with the ability to demonstrate a credible and professional approach.
