Join our fantastic Bridgwater team

At Headway Adolescent Resources, we do more than provide residential care. We create safe, nurturing and aspirational homes where children feel secure, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.

Established in 1999, Headway has built a strong reputation within residential childcare and currently operates seven children's homes, all rated Good by Ofsted.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Registered Manager to lead our established three-bed children's home in Bridgwater. This is an exciting opportunity to join a stable and supportive organisation with a strong regulatory track record, experienced operational leadership and a genuine commitment to delivering outstanding care.

As Registered Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape the culture of the home, develop and inspire your team and provide children with the consistency, support and opportunities they need to thrive.

You will be supported by an experienced Responsible Individual and knowledgeable Head of Care, giving you access to regular guidance, leadership support and operational expertise.

  • £2,000 car allowance
  • Occupancy bonus of £175 per child after the first child. For example, a fully occupied three-bed home may attract an additional £350 per month
  • Ofsted performance bonuses of £500 for a Good report and £1,000 for an Outstanding report
  • On-call payments of £10 per day Monday-Friday and £50 per day Saturday-Sunday
  • 22 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Non-contributory pension with a 9% employer contribution
  • Company sick pay following successful completion of probation
  • Enhanced sick pay of up to 5 days at full pay
  • Ongoing training, development and leadership support
  • The opportunity to join a provider with a consistent track record of Good Ofsted ratings and strong operational support

You will be a resilient and values-led leader who is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children and young people. You will be committed to listening to children, understanding their wishes and feelings and ensuring their voices are central to the care and support they receive.

  • A thorough understanding of Children's Homes Regulations, Ofsted requirements, safeguarding and child protection practices
  • A Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce, or equivalent
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it
  • A minimum of two years' experience within the last five years in a role relevant to residential childcare
  • At least one year's experience supervising and managing staff in a care setting
  • A full UK manual driving licence, access to your own vehicle, business insurance and willingness to participate in the on-call rota, currently averaging around two duties per month

  • Lead and manage an established three-bed children's home, ensuring children receive high-quality, individualised care and support
  • Be accountable for the safe, effective and efficient running of the home, including compliance, administration and operational performance
  • Ensure care planning, record-keeping, reporting and monitoring systems are maintained to a high standard
  • Lead, motivate and develop a committed staff team, promoting a positive, reflective and child-focused culture
  • Maintain compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, safeguarding requirements and Ofsted standards
  • Build positive relationships with families, local authorities, external professionals and the wider community
  • Drive continuous improvement and work towards achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people

If you are an experienced residential childcare leader looking for a well-supported Registered Manager opportunity within a provider with a strong Ofsted track record, we'd love to hear from you.
