Job description

Optalis is the Adult Social Care delivery partner on behalf of Wokingham Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead Council. Optalis is owned and funded by the two councils - it is not a private provider or an employment agency.

Location: Suffolk Lodge, Wokingham

Salary: £49,351.26 per annum

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate care professional to lead Suffolk Lodge, a well-established residential care home located in the heart of Wokingham.

Suffolk Lodge provides residential and dementia care for up to 37 older people, together with 8 Assess to Discharge (step-down) beds supporting hospital discharge pathways.

Our focus is on delivering outstanding, relationship-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing.

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, quality, compliance, financial performance and day-to-day operation of the home. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, you will lead a dedicated team to deliver exceptional care, ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate and person-centred support while maintaining full compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Maintaining and improving CQC standards, with an aspiration to achieve and sustain a rating of Good or above
  • Leading, developing and inspiring a high-performing workforce
  • Driving high-quality resident outcomes and positive customer experiences
  • Managing occupancy, referrals and stakeholder relationships
  • Delivering strong governance, safeguarding and quality assurance systems
  • Managing budgets and resources effectively
  • Creating a positive culture where residents and staff can thrive

We are looking for a confident and experienced leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional care for older people. You will have:

  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (or equivalent)
  • Significant management experience within a CQC-regulated adult social care service
  • A strong understanding of CQC regulations, safeguarding and quality governance
  • Experience of leading and developing teams
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A commitment to delivering person-centred care and continuous improvement

At Optalis, we value our people and recognise the important contribution they make every day. Benefits include:

  • Perkbox rewards package offering discounts on shopping, travel, health, leisure and entertainment
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 days with service, plus 8 bank holidays
  • Additional day off for your birthday
  • Health and Wellbeing Day
  • Comprehensive training and development programme
  • Career progression opportunities across the organisation
  • STAR Awards employee recognition scheme
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Opportunity to influence and shape service delivery through employee forums and engagement groups
