Lead the launch of an innovative new specialist children's home

Care in Mind is proud to be launching an exciting new three-bedded Ofsted-registered children's residential home in Leeds, following the award of a seven-year partnership contract with Leeds City Council. This pioneering service will provide specialist, trauma-informed care for children and young people with complex mental health needs, helping them remain close to their families, schools and local communities whilst accessing expert therapeutic support.

We are looking for an exceptional Registered Manager to play a pivotal role in establishing and leading this new service from day one. This is a unique opportunity to combine the excitement of developing a new home with the support, expertise and reputation of an established specialist provider.

At Care in Mind, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. Our unique model combines high-quality residential care with specialist multidisciplinary mental health support, delivering trauma-informed, clinically integrated services that achieve life-changing outcomes for young people.

As Registered Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the development and opening of a brand-new specialist children's home.
  • Build and develop your own high-performing team.
  • Shape the culture, standards and identity of the service from the outset.
  • Work alongside experienced clinical professionals within a fully integrated multidisciplinary team.
  • Deliver genuinely therapeutic care that supports recovery from trauma and adversity.
  • Make a lasting impact on children and young people within the Leeds community.

You will hold overall responsibility for the leadership, management and regulatory compliance of a three-bed residential home supporting children with complex mental health needs and behaviours that challenge.

You will lead an experienced staff team, ensure the home achieves the highest standards of care and quality, and work collaboratively with internal clinical teams, local authorities, schools, CAMHS and other stakeholders to ensure exceptional outcomes for children and young people.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a confident, resilient and compassionate leader who can inspire others and create an environment where both children and colleagues can flourish.

  • Current or previous experience as a Registered Manager within children's residential care.
  • At least two years' recent experience working in children's residential services.
  • Experience managing and supervising teams within a residential setting.
  • Experience working within Ofsted-regulated services.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to achieve this qualification (fully funded).
  • Strong understanding of Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and legislation relating to looked-after children.

  • Outstanding leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience recruiting, developing and retaining talented teams.
  • Confidence managing budgets, quality assurance processes and regulatory inspections.
  • The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing, professional development and reflective practice.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people experiencing complex mental health challenges.

In addition to the opportunity to lead a flagship new service, we offer an excellent benefits package including:

  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Birthday leave
  • Enhanced pension and sick pay
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity benefits
  • Healthcare Cash Plan
  • Life Assurance
  • Electric car salary sacrifice scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Extensive learning and development opportunities
  • Investors in People Silver accredited employer
  • Blue Light Card discounts
  • Refer a Friend Scheme
  • Free onsite parking and much more.

This is more than a Registered Manager position. It's an opportunity to establish a service that will transform the lives of children and young people across Leeds.
