This is a part-time post working Tuesday 07:45 - 18:00 and Friday 07:45 - 17:00 with an hour unpaid lunch break in each day. You will also be required to work some occasional additional shifts (possibly half days) to cover holiday / sickness but these are not regular.
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information and assisting patients as required.
To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and
Staffing levels
a.
Maintain
and monitor the practice appointment system
b.
Process
personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
c.
Answer
incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request
appropriately
d.
Signpost
patients to the correct service
e.
Initiating
contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and
external agencies
f.
Clinically
code data on SystmOne
g.
Photocopy
documentation as required
h.
Data
entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as
required
i.
Input
data into patients healthcare records as necessary
j.
Manage
all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
k.
Maintain
a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
l.
Monitor
and maintain the reception area and notice boards
m.
Support
all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
n.
Provide
cover during staff absences
o.
Action
incoming emails and correspondence as necessary
p.
Complete
opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
q.
Produce,
maintain and participate in the receptionist rota for lunch and out of hours
cover
We have a wide ranging clinical team including GP Partners, salaried GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, a paramedic and HCAs. We then have our reception team, medical secretaries and admin team. We also have an in-house dispensary with it's own team of staff.
We are a large team but get on well and there is no feeling of hierarchy at all, the GPs are human too :-)
We get lots of compliments from our patients about being the best practice they've ever been at which is heartening as we all work hard to give the best service we can.
Qualifications
Essential: - Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
Desirable: - GCSE Mathematics and English (C or above); - AMSPAR Receptionist Qualification; - NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
Experience
Essential: - Experience of working with the general public
Desirable: - Experience of administrative duties; - Experience of working in a healthcare setting
