We are seeking an exceptionally motivated and forward-thinking midwife to join the Education Team at QCCH. This Practice Development Midwife position ...
- To work with the midwifery education lead to co-ordinate and facilitate the educational activities of individual pre and post registration students and return to practice (RTP) midwives, by working in partnership with the Approved Education Institutions (AEI's) to promote evidenced based learning in the development of midwifery practice, encompassing local and national service drivers.
- To provide and assure a safe and effective clinical placement for midwifery students, by ensuring that practice supervisors (PS's) and assessors (PA's) are appropriately allocated and supported to maximise learning opportunities Provide practice based continuing professional development for PS's and PA's including education provision in teaching and assessing in clinical practice
- Work with the midwifery education lead to co-ordinate and support midwives' attendance at SSSA (standards for student supervision and assessment) courses and updates. Collaborate with link lecturers to provide opportunities for midwives to achieve practice assessor status and maintain a local database of PA's
- With the midwifery education lead, work collaboratively to ensure that students achieve the NMC requirements for clinical proficiencies and practice assessments and manipulate student learning experiences where necessary to meet this need, troubleshooting when issues arise

- Registered Midwife
- First degree
- Evidence of post registration education activity.
- Mentorship Qualification/SSSA preparation and Assessor experience
Desirable
- Has attained or is working towards a master's degree in midwifery or relevant alternative.
- Teaching qualification
- PROMPT Trainer
- NLS Trainer
- Leadership qualification
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience as a practicing midwife.
- Experience working as a mentor/practice assessor/preceptorship support
- Experience teaching in a variety of settings
- Proven experience in support of trained staff.
- Proven enthusiasm towards teaching\sharing knowledge.
Skills

- Evidence of applying current research to practice.
- Highly developed IT skills
- Able to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Able to use own initiative.
