  • Participate in the dispensing of individual patient medicines including controlled drugs, extemporaneous preparations, clinical trials against department procedures ensuring legal and ethical requirements are met.
  • Complete Accredited Checking of medicines log and assessment
  • Participate in the receipt, ordering and distribution of medicines to wards and teams.
  • Complete Medicine Reconciliation at ward level, checking patient own medicines and ensuring a supply of medicines is available.
  • Develop knowledge and effectively counsel patients on their medication and provide medicine advice.
  • Order repeat inpatient and stock medicines.
  • Complete pharmacy governance audits.
  • Provide excellent customer care to patients, healthcare workers and the public ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Attainment and Qualifications

Essential

  • 4 GCSE (or equivalent) at grade A* to C or grade 4 or above including Maths, English Language or Literature (English speaking or Listening are not acceptable) and a Science

Desirable

  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 in pharmacy services or equivalent
  • Information technology (IT) qualifications e.g.,/ GSCE in IT, ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence etc)

Knowledge / Experience

Essential: - Knowledge/Interest in Pharmacy; - Understands the values of the NHS

Desirable: - Experience of working with the general public; - Experience of working within a pharmacy

Task Management Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work to deadlines in a high-pressure environment. Please provide examples
  • Strong team player. Please provide examples
  • Ability to complete the apprenticeship pathway (including independent study)

Desirable: - Knowledge/experience of how apprenticeships and BTEC/diplomas work

Technical Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work with attention to detail and accuracy. Please provide examples
  • Good ability of computer systems and IT Skills
  • Demonstrate communication skills both verbal and written
