The following are the core responsibilities of a Practice Nurse:
- Venepuncture
- Anticoagulation
Monitoring
- ECG
& 24hr Blood Pressures
- Immunisation
and vaccination of children and adults
- Travel
Immunisations
- Ear
examination and syringing
- Wound
care and dressings
- First
aid and management of emergencies
- Assisting
in minor operation/womens health clinic sessions
- Health
Promotion and Education
- Chronic
- Cervical
smear screening
- Care
and maintenance of equipment and treatment rooms
- Provide contemporaneous, accurate documentation of all care given
to patients
- Providing clinical advice and support to other professionals
within the practice
- The
use of the EMIS clinical system for recording consultations, data capture and
to produce reports/statistics
- Attendance
and input to the regular practice meetings, as deemed appropriate.
- Attendance
at regular training/updates identified in your Personal Development Plan
- To
maintain skills and develop competence in new areas depending on service needs. Ensure professional knowledge is kept
up-to-date
- Clinical
supervision in line with professional and CQC requirements
- Participation
in research within the Practice as required
- To provide holistic, high quality, clinical care working always
in accordance with NMC professional guidelines and scope of competence

Practice's priority is to provide the highest standard of clinical care to
the 24,000+ patients registered with the Practice as well as those from
other practices who are seen in our additional clinics. We aim to work
collaboratively with other healthcare providers and support organisations,
to enable more patients to be treated in a primary care setting, closer to
home. We embrace a continuous improvement ethos and strive to ensure that
we are available to patients when they need a consultation. We have a
holistic approach to patient care and a strong training ethos within the
practice with a team of medical and non-medical educators as well as
opportunities for non-clinical staff to develop and progress.

Qualifications
Essential: - NMC Registered Nurse
Desirable: - Educated to Degree Level
Experience
Essential: - Evidence of working autonomously or as part of a team.; - Broad knowledge of General Practice.
Desirable
- Experience working in a primary care setting.
- Understanding and knowledge of healthcare provision in GP.
- practices, QOF and enhanced services.
- Good clinical system IT knowledge of EMIS.
