The successful applicant will be
working as part of the allied health professional team to offer expert care,
advice, and support for patients within the surgery.
You should have experience of clinical
skills, working independently, have excellent organisational skills and, work
well as part of a team.
Ideally you will have, or be
actively working towards a primary care nursing qualification and have
experience of working in general practice.
This post is not suitable for newly qualified professionals with less than 6 months of post registration experience.
Clinical Care
Work alongside medical, nursing,
and allied health professional colleagues to provide high quality patient care.
Undertake treatment room clinics
including wound care, ECGs and phlebotomy.
Undertake health screening and
provide relevant health promotion advice and literature to patients.
Participate in seasonal and
childhood vaccination and immunisation programmes.
Undertake cervical cytology
screening.
Give comprehensive travel advice
and administer vaccinations as appropriate.
Assist clinicians in the
emergency management of patients.
Liaise with relevant Health Care
Professionals and members of the Primary Care Team as required.
Work within personal competence always,
taking responsibility for own learning & performance including
participating in clinical supervision and acting as a positive role model.
Act as a chaperone if required.
Leadership
Working with the clinical
manager and other members of the team to manage aspects of the treatment room.
Maintain a clean and tidy
environment, order consumables and manage stock rotation, and ensure all
equipment is in good working order.
Assist with any relevant audits,
making recommendations on necessary changes to promote best practice as
required within the surgery.
Maintain effective
communication/ relationships/ understanding and co-operation between Nursing
colleagues, GPs and other practice staff.
Keep accurate and comprehensive
written and/ or computer records at all times.
Provide training, supervision
and mentorship to junior colleagues and students where appropriate.
Work with the allied health
professional team to actively promote the workplace as a learning environment,
encouraging everyone to learn from each other and from external good practice.
Contribute to the development of
local and practice guidelines, protocols and standards within area of clinical
specialism.
Team working
Understand own role and scope of
practice.
Work as an effective and
responsible team member, supporting others and exploring mechanisms to develop
new ways of working.
Delegate clearly and
appropriately, adopting the principles of safe assessment of competence.
Discuss, highlight and work with
the team to create opportunities to improve patient care.
Liaise with the clinical manager
regarding any conflict, issues or concerns within the allied health
professional team.
Other
Maintain current and valid NMC
Registration
Undertake any other reasonable
duties as requested by the practice.
To provide cover within the team
should the need arise through sickness etc.
New Road Surgery is based in the
centre of Bromsgrove, providing services to around 13,000 patients.
Last CQC inspection rated Good
and commended for our team ethos and team atmosphere.

Experience
Essential
- Minimum 6 months experience of working as registered nurse.
Desirable
- Experience of working in primary care
- Experience of working in a GP practice
- Experience of long term condition management

- NMC Registered Nurse
- DipHE / BSc Nursing Qualification
Desirable
- General Practice Nursing PG Cert
- Cervical sample taker qualification
- Phlebotomy Qualification
