To deliver nursing care to our practice population,
working alongside our Lead Nurse, fellow band 7 nurses, a new treatment room
nurse role and our HCAs and phlebotomists. A particular focus will be chronic
disease management of asthma, COPD, diabetes and hypertension as part of a wide
range of nursing roles. The ideal candidate would be fully qualified in theses areas and have experience of working in primary care.
Band 7 Practice Nurse
Reports to: Lead Nurse (clinically and operationally),
Practice Manager (administratively)
Core clinical work to include
Chronic disease management
o Asthma
annual reviews
o COPD
annual reviews
o Diabetes
annual reviews
o Hypertension
annual reviews
Cervical smears
Wound care
Routine immunisations childhood and adult
Various injections contraception, hormone
treatments, B12 etc
Travel vaccines
Ear syringing
Audiometry
Anticoagulation INR dosing
Additional clinical work to be completed when required:
BP checks
Phlebotomy
12 lead ECG
Suture removal
Chaperone
NHS Health Checks
SMI review/health check
Learning Disability health checks
The successful post holder will work effectively as part
of our clinical team, maintaining the highest standards of professional
integrity, confidentiality, medical documentation, professional dress and
health and safety working. They will participate in the ongoing CPD programme
within the surgery and with appraisals as required.
We are a long established large GP practice based at
Broom Lane, and a large branch at Kimberworth Park. In total we have around 15,000 patients across two sites. We have just completed a major rebuild and remodel at the Broom Lane site making us a desirable place to work .
Our staffing team consists of six GP partners with a
variety of specialist interests, four salaried doctors, Practice
Management team, administration department and two reception teams working
alongside our nursing team as above. We are well connected with our Primary
Care Network and utilise ARRS staff including pharmacy team, social prescribers, physios and mental health practitioners to better resource our patient care.
Qualifications
Essential
- ideally we would like a fully qualified nurse however we would consider someone who is will to train for reach the requirements
- Registered Nurse
- Post graduate diploma or degree (Primary Care)
- Experience of chronic disease management
- Venepuncture
- Chaperone procedure
- Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Asthma
- CHD
- COPD
- Understands the importance of evidence based practice
- Broad knowledge of clinical governance
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes
- Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to GPs
- Knowledge of health promotion strategies
- Understands the requirement for PGDs/PSDs and associated policy
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong IT skills
Desirable

- Experience with audit and able to lead audit programmes

- Flexibility to work outside of core office hours
