Reporting to the Superintendent Pharmacist, you will lead
and manage the dispensary functions and team, with responsibility for the
day-to-day operational management and development of the service.
You will coordinate the work of pharmacy technicians and
support staff, ensuring that medicines are supplied safely and on time to wards
and departments. You will analyse service information and respond to changing
demand, prioritising workloads and deploying staff to areas of greatest need.
Alongside this operational leadership, you will have a
significant role in pharmacy procurement and medicines supply. You will oversee
purchasing, stock control and distribution, work with wholesalers and suppliers
to resolve shortages and supply disruption, and support robust financial
governance through cost-effective purchasing, contract compliance and the
reduction of waste.
You will work closely with pharmacy, finance, clinical,
procurement and digital colleagues to identify opportunities to improve the
service, maximise value and strengthen medicines supply resilience.
Enterprises is a not for profit Community Interest Company. Based in Woodfield
Park, we operate out of St Catherine's House -an historic grade II
listed building. St Catherine's House hosts -

and in conjunction with these business units Flourish Enterprises provide the
Vocational Pathway Programme. This programme supports individuals back into the
workplace through
volunteering or education by providing key skills and experiences. Flourish
Enterprises also operates Woodfield24 - a domiciliary care service delivering
end of life care throughout the Doncaster borough.
Qualifications
Essential
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures for specialist area to degree or equivalent level acquired through training, NVQ3, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or BTEC Level 3 Diploma in principles and practice for technicians
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician
- Technician Checking Accreditation
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development in line with GPhC requirements
Desirable
- Educated to MSc in Pharmacy studies
- Further relevant pharmacy or management training/qualification e.g. NHS Leadership underpinning knowledge such as Mary Seacole or community pharmacy-based leadership courses.
Experience
Essential
- Substantial post-registration experience as a senior Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist, with experience appropriate to the professional background of the applicant. For Pharmacy Technicians, experience as an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician is required.
- Previous experience of line-managing direct reports
- Experience of supervising others and providing feedback for development
- Education and training of staff
- Experience of developing, reviewing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures
- Experience of quality improvement
- Experience of audit
- Experience of using System One and System C
- Experience of managing pharmacy stock, Procurement/ supply management/ wholesaler issues.
Desirable: - - Experience of implementing change; - - Experience of the management and development of information systems
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Substantial post-registration experience within pharmacy services.
- Up to date clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge.
- Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice e.g. controlled drugs
- Confident to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Influencing / negotiation skills.
- Understanding of hospital pharmacy systems.
- Staff management and leadership skills.
- Organisational and time management skills
- Auditing and analysis skills
- Ability to motivate and engage other members of staff
- Experience of training delivery
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
- Excellent IT skills and ability to use information systems confidently including ability to use Microsoft Office packages e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook
- Experience of training and mentoring students, foundation pharmacists and non-registered staff
- Knowledge of NHS discharge processes
