Be the Heartbeat of Change! Join Us as a Peripatetic Residential Childcare Worker at Salford City Council’s Children’s Residential Service.

Are you passionate about making a lasting impact in the lives of young people? Are you ready to be a part of something bigger, something transformative?

As part of our vibrant expansion phase, Salford City Council’s Children’s Residential Service is in search of spirited individuals for the role of Peripatetic Residential Childcare Worker. This is a golden opportunity to join a growing initiative committed to creating more homes within our community for the children of Salford.

As a Peripatetic Residential Childcare Worker, you will be a cornerstone in multiple homes, offering stability, warmth, and creativity in each setting you step into.

As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will lead by example, providing high-quality care and support to children and young people, at times in crisis. This role requires resilience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to supporting young people through their most challenging times.

Flexibility and Adaptability: You will work across various homes, adapting to different teams and environments, ensuring that every child receives the highest quality of care and a sense of belonging. You will, led by a team of Peripatetic Senior Residential Childcare Workers and a Peripatetic Team Manager, respond to sickness and absence and period of crisis within homes.

Direct Care: From daily routines to crisis management, you’ll be hands-on in providing direct support to our children, helping them grow, learn, and thrive.

Emotional Support: Be a pillar of emotional support and guidance, helping to shape the lives of our young residents through compassion, understanding, and respect.

We need more than just employees; we are looking for passion-driven individuals who:

Whether you’ve worked in children’s services before or have transferable skills in care and support, your passion for making a difference is what truly matters.

You must have previous and relevant experience of working with young people and families or have worked in a residential setting and have extensive experience of working with young people experiencing crisis. A strong background in therapeutic parenting, behaviour support and de-escalation techniques is also essential. A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare is essential (or willingness to work towards this).

You also need to be ready to take on challenges with a smile, adaptable to changing environments, and resilient in the face of adversity.

Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to connect with young people is a must!

If you think that working within our Peripatetic Residential Team and making a real difference to a young person's life might be for you, please contact Taiwo Eniola, Peripatetic Team Manager - by email taiwo.eniola@salford.gov.uk.
