Paramedic or FCP Paramedic

• Urgently respond to referrals and provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact by attending to patients, according to patients needs either in the practice or patient homes
• Support, and continue the development of, an on-the-day emergency patient service in the practice
• Accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in both emergency situations and telephone triage, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness, including past medical and drug history
• Evaluate clinical information from examination and history taking, and initiate appropriate treatment and/or referral
• Review the effectiveness of the treatment provided, making changes where necessary to improve patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate clinical records in an efficient manner.

Essential

• Registration: Must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) with a degree-level qualification.
• Post-Qualification Experience: Must have completed mandatory 2-year "Consolidation of Learning" period as a newly qualified paramedic, plus a minimum of 3 additional years of post-qualification experience at Agenda for Change (AfC) Band 6 (or equivalent).

Essential

• Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care
• Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients
• Be able to evaluate patient care confidently
• Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines
• To exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
• Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively
