You will manage a varied clinical caseload of adults aged 18-65 with a range of mental health conditions, delivering high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy and care coordination interventions that promote recovery, independence and meaningful participation in daily life.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • o Managing a defined caseload, undertaking comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and developing evidence-based, client-centred intervention plans using sound clinical reasoning.
  • Completing initial assessments, contributing to risk assessments, crisis plans and care plans, and participating in ongoing care coordination where appropriate.
  • Supporting service users and their carers to develop personalised goals and implementing trauma informed approaches that maximise occupational performance and social inclusion.
  • Planning and facilitating safe, timely discharge and transfer of care to primary care, community services and other appropriate agencies.
  • Working closely with partner organisations to ensure continuity of care and effective transitions between services.
  • Providing clinical supervision, support and guidance to junior occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and support staff, contributing to their professional development.
  • Participating in service evaluation, clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives, using evidence-based practice to support ongoing service development.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification
  • HCPC Registration

Experience

Essential

  • Achieved Band 5 OT KSF sub-set
  • Achieved full KSF outline for Band 5 OT
  • Application of core OT skills and OT process

Desirable

  • Involvement in research and clinical audit
  • Experience of supervision of students and staff

Knowledge

Essential

  • Mental health diagnoses/presentations
  • Ability to articulate and apply relevant experience to mental health setting
  • Awareness of need to work within appropriate boundaries
  • Relevant current legislation, NICE guidelines, CPA, risk assessment and risk management
  • Evidence of post-qualified training in Mental Health

Desirable

  • Use of Model of Human Occupation
  • Clinical/case supervision training
