Key Roles & Responsibilities

Manage a specialist clinical caseload of patients with complex Occupational Therapy needs across Assessment and Treatment and Forensic Learning Disability Services.Deliver high-quality, person-centred and evidence-based Occupational Therapy assessments, functional assessments, interventions, and treatment plans.Assess patients’ strengths, needs, risks, barriers, and occupational goals, developing individualised interventions in collaboration with patients, families, carers, and the MDT.Provide specialist Occupational Therapy input across inpatient and community settings, adapting interventions to complex patient needs.Work as an integral member of the MDT, providing specialist clinical advice and supporting holistic patient care.Provide Band 7 clinical leadership within the Occupational Therapy service, supporting service planning, development, workload management, and effective service delivery.Supervise, support, and develop junior Occupational Therapists, assistants, and support staff through supervision, guidance, and reflective practice.Contribute to safeguarding, risk management, clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and service development.Maintain accurate clinical documentation and promote safe, professional practice in line with HCPC standards, Trust policies, and professional guidance.Maintain professional competence through CPD, appraisal, and ongoing clinical development. Essential Skills & Experience

HCPC registered Occupational Therapist (or eligible for registration) with a relevant Occupational Therapy degree/diploma.Substantial Band 7-level Occupational Therapy experience working with a Learning Disability and/or Autism client group – this is a specific requirement for the role.Experience within Learning Disability, Autism, mental health, forensic, or complex inpatient services.Proven experience managing a complex clinical caseload and delivering structured Occupational Therapy interventions.Strong understanding of person-centred, recovery-focused, and evidence-based Occupational Therapy practice.Experience providing clinical supervision, leadership, and support to junior staff.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, carers, families, and multidisciplinary professionals.Ability to assess and manage clinical risk and contribute effectively to MDT decision-making and service development.
