Hours: 30 hours per week, 4 days, term time only

Start Date: November 2026

We are working on behalf of a specialist SEMH school to recruit an experienced and dedicated Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join their onsite multidisciplinary therapy team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people and who enjoys working in a challenging, supportive and highly collaborative environment.

Working as an integrated member of the school's therapeutic provision, you will provide specialist occupational therapy support to students aged approximately 9–19 years.

You will work alongside an established multidisciplinary team, including professionals from Speech and Language Therapy, Play Therapy, Clinical Psychology and Occupational Therapy, taking a holistic approach to supporting each student's individual needs.

  • Completing comprehensive clinical assessments.
  • Producing professional reports and recommendations.
  • Developing and delivering individualised therapy programmes.
  • Providing specialist advice and guidance to staff.
  • Delivering training to support the wider school team.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across education and therapy.
  • Supporting students with their emotional, social and functional development.
  • Helping students develop independence and essential life skills.
  • Contributing to a therapeutic approach focused on positive outcomes and preparation for adulthood.

The school places significant emphasis on life skills, social development and emotional wellbeing alongside academic achievement, with the ultimate aim of helping students progress, develop resilience and, where appropriate, reintegrate into mainstream education.

  • Be a qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the HCPC.
  • Be a member of RCOT.
  • Have experience working with children and/or young people, ideally aged 9–19.
  • Have a strong understanding of SEMH needs.
  • Be confident carrying out assessments and developing appropriate therapeutic programmes.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be solution-focused, adaptable and resourceful.
  • Be comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Have a genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people.

Previous experience within a specialist education, therapeutic or SEMH environment would be highly advantageous.

Our client offers a supportive working environment with a strong focus on professional development, alongside:

  • Term-time-only working.
  • Payment of professional membership fees.
  • Free lunches.
  • Generous company pension scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Charity discount scheme.
  • Summer and Christmas social events.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Access to onsite swimming facilities.
  • Excellent internal and external training opportunities.

If you are an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for a rewarding role where your clinical expertise can have a meaningful impact on the lives of young people, we would be keen to hear from you.
