The post-holder will have day to day responsibility for a designated case load and will be expected to provide employees within this group with a comprehensive and confidential OH service, whilst working within his/her level of competency. The ability to recognise the need to refer on to the Senior OH Specialist or OH Physician, is an essential requirement of this post.

Although the Occupational Health department's base is at St. Marys Hospital in Kettering, the post holder will be expected to work within any NHFT premises across Northamptonshire , therefore the applicant will need to be able to transfer flexibly between workplaces, as necessary, to meet service requirements.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified NMC Registered Nurse (General or Mental)
  • Experience of working in a NHS Occupational Health Department

Desirable

  • Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Occupational Health) qualification.
  • Other OH relevent training/courses

Skills

Essential

  • Skilled in case management and complex occupational health consultations.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritise competing demands.

Desirable

  • Experience analysing occupational health activity and performance data.
  • Presentation and training skills.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of undertaking management referral assessments and providing fitness for work advice.
  • Experience of pre-employment health screening and occupational health clearance processes.
  • Experience of preparing clear, evidence-based occupational health reports and recommendations.

Desirable

  • Experience of sickness absence management and supporting complex employee health cases.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with managers, HR, health and safety teams and other healthcare professionals.
