We would like to hear from you if you have a special interest in Respiratory and want to lead the way in the continued development of a high standard of care in an acute setting

There are strong links with both respiratory nurse specialists and community staff, and we work closely with all members of our MDT to provide quality care and treatment for our patients.

The NIV Nurse is expected to be dynamic and enthusiastic and be able to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained.

  • Prior experience of working in an acute setting is essential
  • Evidence of relevant ongoing professional development
  • Clinical leadership
  • Use of expanded nursing role
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as Band 5 within the acute medical setting
  • A genuine desire to improve patient care
  • Keen interest in NIV Nursing

Acute Care

Providing emergency and maternity services at Whiston, Southport and Ormskirk hospitals, and medical and surgical specialties across all our sites.

Primary Care

Providing primary care services at Marshalls Cross Medical Centre situated in St Helens Hospital.

Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Qualifications

Essential: - Registered General Nurse with current NMC Registration; - Nursing Diploma, or equivalent experience

Desirable: - Evidence of post registration study/development; - Recognised teaching qualification; - Recognised leadership qualification/training

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of clinical skills required to undertake the role
  • Knowledge of current professional & clinical issues
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults procedures
  • Substantial years post registration experience
  • Substantial years Acute Nursing experience
  • Experience and evidence of quality improvement in patient care

Desirable: - Facilitated staff professional development
