Job overview The Clinical Lead is accountable to the Clinical Director and works in partnership with the Service Manager, Deputy Directorate Manager, Directorate Manager, Matrons and Clinical Director to provide clinical leadership and ensure the delivery of safe, effective and sustainable services. The Clinical Lead is responsible for providing professional leadership to the consultant body and wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring high standards of clinical care, governance and patient safety while contributing to the operational and strategic development of the Speciality. Main duties of the job

Clinical Leadership : Provide visible and effective leadership to the Plastic Surgery clinical team, ensuring high standards of care, patient safety, and compliance with national guidelines.Service Planning and Development : Contribute to the development of strategic and annual service plans, including business case preparation and service redesign to meet evolving clinical needs.Governance and Quality : Monitor the quality and safety of clinical activities, lead on incident reviews, and implement actions to address risks identified in the divisional risk register (e.g. delays in laryngectomy valve changes, tracheostomy weaning, and outpatient capacity)2.Operational Oversight : Work collaboratively with the Operational Service Manager and Matron to ensure efficient use of resources, theatre scheduling, and delivery of performance targets.Workforce and Education : Support recruitment, retention, and development of clinical staff.
