As a Cancer Services Co-Ordinator (MDT), you will

  • Co-ordinate and support weekly Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain MDT documentation, patient lists and meeting outcomes within agreed timescales.
  • Collect, validate and record patient pathway information on relevant cancer information systems.
  • Monitor patient progress through the Single Cancer Pathway and support the achievement of national cancer targets.
  • Liaise with consultants, clinical nurse specialists, radiology, pathology and administrative teams to ensure patients are appropriately discussed and managed.
  • Ensure MDT decisions and outcomes are accurately documented and communicated to relevant teams. Maintain high standards of data quality, accuracy, confidentiality and information governance.
  • Support audits, reporting requirements and service improvement initiatives within Cancer Services.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Our services are provided in

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
  • Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of knowledge/ experience in a Cancer Service or Cancer setting.
  • Knowledge of site-specific cancer, including medical terminology and an understanding of cancer pathways.
  • Knowledge of IT systems / data entry / word processing and spreadsheets

Desirable

  • IT related qualification eg ECDL
  • RSA/OCR 3 or equivalent experience.

Experience

Essential

  • Administration and office experience
  • Experience of IT systems / data entry / word processing and spreadsheets with the ability to touch type at speed

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the NHS

Other

Essential

  • Flexible approach to needs of service
  • Able to travel to various sites within and outside the Health Board to attend meetings or training venues

Desirable

  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
