This is a part-time post (30 hours per week) with the standard working day as 08:00-16:00 or 09:00-17:00.

  • Patient Care Advisors are the first point of contact for our patients. This means they handle patient data every single day and work within small teams, making sure the people we see experience seamless care.
  • Communication is a key part of this role, and the successful candidate will spend most of their time covering telephone and reception duties.
  • The role will be based in the Physiotherapy Department in Crawley Hospital, but will include the expectation to cover reception duties in the Physiotheray Department in Horsham Hospital on a regular basis.

The successful candidate will be employed by Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust but will work within the Sussex MSK Health Partnership service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to NVQ Level 3, Certificate of Higher Education and/or equivalent experience.

Previous experience

Essential

  • Experience In an administrative role
  • Experience of working with a professional team
  • Experience of customer care or similar service industry practices
  • Intermediate level use of Word, Excel and Outlook

Desirable

  • Experience of complying with patient confidentiality (or similar) and data protection requirements
  • Experience of patient administration systems and/or appointment booking systems (or similar)
  • Experience of dealing with difficult conversations by telephone
  • Experience of principles of care e.g. first do no harm, and patient confidentiality

Skills

Essential

  • Effective communication, both face to face and on the telephone with a range of people in a range of situations
  • Excellent telephone manner and managing calls in a professional way
  • Good listening skills with an ability to maintain focus, recognise possible distractions and ignore/deal with them
  • Able to plan and organise own work effectively to achieve key service performance indicators and meet deadlines
  • Thorough approach to recording accurate information and data entry
