As a role model for cancer nursing practice, you will develop skills to assess, manage and treat patients, as well as working towards supporting and leading on the introduction of new initiatives and pathways. You will have post-registration experience in oncology / haematology/ palliative care or relevant speciality.

Within this role you will be required to develop the skills of clinical leadership, managing change and have knowledge of managing resources, people and situations effectively, whilst keeping a calm head in a challenging environment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC registration
  • Holds, or working towards, a BSc (Hons) Health

Desirable

  • Post registration qualification in oncology, palliative care and/or chemotherapy
  • University qualification in specialty
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification or commitment to undertake
  • Teaching/assessment/ mentoring qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Good level of post registration experience
  • Audit or research experience
  • Teaching and education experience

Desirable

  • Recent post registration nursing experience with patients with cancer

Practical & Intellectual Skill

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Able to organise own learning and development

Desirable

  • Understanding of the possible emotional impact of metastatic disease

Training

Essential

  • Evidence of continuing professional development
