Job description

We have two exciting opportunities for our accommodation service in Littlehampton. We are seeking 1 part time day Mental Health Support Worker, and 1 full time Waking Nights Mental Health Support Worker. If you think you would be a good fit and you are interested in either of these roles, please get in touch for more detail.

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable full time Waking Night Mental Health Support Worker to provide overnight support to individuals with mental health needs, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and comfort throughout the night.

We are also seeking a compassionate and reliable part time day staff Mental Health Support Worker to work alongside our team to support individuals with mental health needs, promoting independence and support.

This is a rewarding role where you will make a real difference by offering reassurance, practical assistance, and emotional support during challenging times.

Our team comprises many different types of extra-ordinary people; we are not looking for one ‘set’ of skills but instead are looking for people who share our vision to do something different; something innovative, high quality and something that achieves something amazing for the people we work with.

  • Provide person-centred care and emotional support during waking night shifts.
  • Monitor wellbeing and respond to any incidents calmly and professionally.
  • Assist with night-time routines and personal care where required.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with day staff for continuity of care.
  • Promote independence and recovery-focused approaches.

  • Enthusiasm for working in mental health and supporting vulnerable individuals.
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, patient approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in mental health or social care is desirable
  • Right to work in the UK (we cannot offer sponsorship for this role).

  • You will receive full induction training and continued professional development
  • Excellent support from experienced management and the wider clinical leadership team
  • Access to our EAP program offering telephone support, full counselling services and discounts on a range of shops and services
  • A wellbeing day in addition to annual leave, to use however you wish
  • 28 days annual leave, increasing with length of service up to 5 additional days
  • Staff recognition and rewards.
  • Monthly workshops with our Clinical Team as well as access to our library of previous sessions

  • Previous experience, ideally Mental Health/LD/Neurodiverse support.
  • Ability to positively address and challenge inappropriate or negative behaviours and attitudes.
  • Experience of using therapeutic de-escalation and/or crisis intervention techniques.
  • Able to respond to changes in an individual’s needs and meet deadlines.
  • To encourage and manage participation and involvement from the people we support.
  • Computer literate, with confidence in using all Microsoft office programmes

Desired Skills

  • It would be desirable for you to have had experience supporting a person(s) with a mental health condition and within a community-based service.
